Competences

Andreas Balthasar founded Interface in Lucerne in 1991 and has since conducted nearly one hundred evaluations. In addition to heading the firm, he serves mainly as an evaluation consultant to various federal offices. He is also active in research on social and health policy and manages diverse evaluation projects. From 1987 to 2005 he taught at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Bern. In addition, he headed further training courses in evaluation. He has been teaching at the Department of Political Science of the University of Lucerne since 2007.

Education and further education

Andreas Balthasar studied economics and economic history at the University of Bern and then worked as a research associate at the Research Center for the History and Sociology of Swiss Politics at the University of Bern. He completed a Ph.D. in political science at the University of Bern under Prof. E. Gruner, Chair of Social History and Sociology of Swiss Politics, in 1985, completed a habilitation (post-doctoral qualification for research and teaching at professorial level) at the Faculty of Economics & Social Science at the University of Bern in the spring of 2007, and was named titular professor of political science at the University of Lucerne in 2010.
